Have you recently made the decision to remodel your kitchen? If so, what would you like to have remodeled? There are some homeowners who only choose to have a specific part of their kitchen remodeled, but then there are others who want everything changed.Whether you want to only improve a small part of your kitchen or if you want a completely different kitchen, there is a good chance that you may be looking for a new kitchen countertop. If so, have you decided on which type of countertop you would like?

When it comes to choosing new kitchen countertops, for your kitchen remodeling project, there are a number of factors that need to be taken into consideration. One of the most important things to keep in mind is your kitchen cabinets. Kitchen countertops are almost always placed on top of kitchen cabinets or cupboards. If you are looking to remodel your cabinets as well, it may be a good idea to pick out all of your supplies and materials at the same time. This will help to ensure that your new kitchen countertop not only looks nice, but that it also compliments the kitchen cabinets that you will have installed.

Perhaps, the most important thing to keep in mind, when choosing your new kitchen countertops is the cost. Laminate countertops are often considered the most affordable of all countertops. Despite being the most affordable, they are often considered plain. If you are looking to not only change your kitchen around, but improve the appearance of it, you may be looking for something better. A large number of homeowners choose to make their new kitchen countertops out of wood materials or marble.

Although it is important to focus on the beauty and overall appearance of a countertop, it is also important to make sure that you can afford it.If you are remodeling your entire kitchen, it may be a good idea to make a list of materials that you will need or wish to have, in addition to a budget. If you mistakenly spend too much money on kitchen countertop materials, you may find it difficult to afford to remodel the rest of your kitchen.

While there is a possibility that you may know already what type of latest kitchen countertop you would like in your kitchen, there is a chance that youmay not be aware of all the possibilities. If this is the situation, you are suggested to pick up your shopping bags. Whether you look for kitchen countertop materials online or in one of your local home improvement stores, there is a good chance that you will come across a wide selection of materials, all with different designs and styles. Shopping or at least browsing is one of the best ways to get ideas. In fact, doing your shopping and browsing at the place where you plan on buying your remodeling supplies from is a great way to get price estimates, which are essential when kitchen remodeling is being done a budget.

Once you have decided which type of materials you would like to use for your kitchen countertops, whether they be a traditional green laminate color or a beautiful marble color, you will need to decide how your kitchen countertop will be installed. If you desire, you can seek assistance from a professional kitchen remodeling expert or a general contractor; however, you may want to do your own countertop installation. With a set of directions, you will find that it is relative easy to install your own kitchen countertop, even if you do not have any home improvement experience. Many kitchen countertop materials come with directions, but if not, you could easily purchase a how-to book for a relatively affordable price.

For all those people who have a passion for preparing food and eating their creations from the comfort of their own home, the kitchen is in all probability very important and as the kitchen in your home is utilized most often, it is likely you will become tired with the interior decoration over time. The good news is that you do not have to incur huge expenses when this comes about. In the U.S. most people often make over their kitchens as part of home betterment but rendering your kitchen a different look can turn out to be exceedingly expensive so this is why you have to consider affordable options. Here are some usable tips about how to re-decorate your kitchen and customizing your unfinished cabinets so that it looks swanky and brand new, even with fixed monetary resources.

There are many simple methods to make your kitchen seem unique and you do not even need to deal out a lump sum to redo it entirely. You can consider painting the walls and for a invigorating look try a shade of pale yellow that will make the kitchen look sunnier. You might also try a darker tone such as terra cotta or dark yellow, for some select areas. You likely want your windowpanes to look bright also so go for a shade of basswood which is less expensive and pick out a vivid and clear color for it. To make it seem unusual try using a brush that is partially dry and if you want the windows to look aged you could also try painting haphazardly.

Use the dry brush to re-paint your unfinished kitchen cabinets as well employing assorted coats of paint to embellish your kitchen and to make it look more striking, purchase some pin-striped adhesive tapes which are utilized in cars, then paste these beneath the molding and observe the effect for yourself. For the parts below the worktop use a fabric board with hook and loop pasting tape. You should also invest in multicolored drapes to cover old appliances like the dish washer or even old closets, which ought to be hung from beneath the frame on the top of your worktop.

At your local budget store for the house, you are sure to find multicolored tiles that are affordable so remove old and faded counter-tops and place these as an alternative. For a rough surface make certain you flatten it with ply-board prior to setting the work-top on it. Now you need to alter the look of your weary looking old icebox too so just ask a trader in your region to get chalkboard for the front panel which can be pasted to it. Make an outline on this with boards of pine and you get a customized surface to leave your personal remarks on.

By now you have probably realized that all you need to have a smart looking kitchen is some imaginative thinking and a small bit of sweat. This is also a wallet favorable solution, and your unfinished kitchen cabinets can look modern and even if your kitchen is small with a small amount of sun streaming in, these suggested steps can make a massive difference to its interior decoration. A great many home improvement magazines offer simple resolutions for redecoration, or you can ask your pals or relations for hints to redo your kitchen. You are certain to realize that making-over your kitchen is a simple and inexpensive way if only you have the determination for it.

If you’re looking for a priceless countertop option granite kitchen countertops are ideal. If you have ever looked at granite before you know that almost every single piece is a one-of-a-kind creation because the pattern and design varies from one piece to the next. To add to the irreplaceable look of granite it can also be fabricated with many diverse types of customized edges for an even more unique appearance. Granite countertops can be purchased in either a slab or in pieces depending on your planned usage and the amount of money you want to spend.

Granite is a natural metamorphic rock so by its very nature it is highly resistant to temperature and heat which is obviously very good thing in the kitchen and especially around the stove as a staging area for hot pots and pans. Granite is mined in a quarry and polished to give it the shine that you will typically see in the stores and fabrication showrooms.

Just like most types of natural stone granite has to have a sealer applied periodically because it is a porous surface which will cause accelerated aging and an excessive amount of wear if not done correctly and routinely. Maintenance on granite countertops is very minimal other then the sealing, which honestly isn’t that big a deal, and involves just simply getting stains and spills up as quickly as possible with as mild a cleaning agent as possible.

Pros:
-Unique look and feel
-High natural resistance to heat and high temperature
-Very durable and strong

Cons:
-Stains can be a problem if not sealed correctly
-Cost
-If it does crack you will need to replace the cracked piece (if you get a solid slab that means you have to replace the entire thing)

When it comes to granite kitchen countertops the price is going to run you from $50-200 dollars per square foot for the slab, and less if you opt for smaller pieces, and then installation is going to be an additional charge from there. Granite is defiantly not a common do-it-yourself job and it is strongly recommended that you have a professional do all the work and you supply the creativity. A perfect choice if you are looking for a one-of-a-kind choice then granite kitchen counter tops are for you.

Quartz kitchen countertops are a great choice if you are looking for an almost maintenance free kitchen. Highly resilient to spills, stains, and any other type of mess aids in helping quartz to be one of the top rated countertop material on the market today. Incredibly durable with a hardness rating of 7, quartz will be able to take almost anything that you can throw at it and not show a single scratch.

Quartz countertops are made from a combination of 93% quartz mixed with resin and pigment that can provide a beautiful array of colors and hues to ensure that you have a beautiful one of a kind counter top. While it is being mixed the pigment is what will decide the color of the final products, well that and you of course. Available in over 50 colors it does not offer the most choice out of any material but it definitely does not leave you looking for more options.

Pros:

-High durability and impact resistance

-Resistant to heat, scratching, and staining

-Looks of granite without the maintenance and cost

Cons:

-Higher cost

quartz countertops will stay looking gorgeous for many long years with proper care and maintenance. Ranging from $45-125 dollars a square foot it is not the cheapest thing in the world but its many benefits can easily justify the higher cost if looked at over time. A highly durable and more economical version of granite, but without its many downfalls, quartz counter tops are a wonderful choice for a family looking for a beautiful, as well as functional countertop material.

Stone kitchen counter tops can mean a few different things varying from marble and limestone and many more which all have different properties. One common feature that comes with all different types of stone is their natural grace which is the very nature of stone. Stones are found in stone quarries and are almost impossible to match two pieces to gether because they are almost all unique to themselves.

Soapstone is the one type of stone that does not need to be periodically sealed to make sure that they are not damaged from spills. All stones have their own unique look within the material, such as the range of color of marble to the versatility and look of granite. The fact that they are very easy to maintain is one of the other things that stone has in common with one another.

Pros:

-Durability

-Easy to care for and maintain

-Will not stain or fade once they are sealed correctly

Cons:

-Not forgiving

-If not sealed can turn into an eyesore

-Grouting is needed if you are going to install stone in more then one piece

Because . As far as installing it yourself it is not recommended because of the complexity along with if you drop it you have just wasted a lot of money. If a durable kitchen countertop material is what you are looking for the stone kitchen countertops are a smart choice for your brand new kitchen.

In every household, the kitchen is probably the room that is used the most. Family members gather there to have conversations, eat meals and just spend time together. As a result, it’s important for the decor of your kitchen to have an inviting appearance and be beautiful. The kitchen is a special bonding area for families and is the heart of every home. One important way to make the kitchen more functional is to install corian countertops. They are more advantageous over other countertops and are commonly know as the solid surface kitchen tops.

No doubt that individual countertop materials have their own individual benefits over the other, but corian solid surface counters are one that score above all of them. Though, plastic laminates are long-lasting and low-priced, yet they can fade over time or be easily damaged or scratched because they have only a single layer of surface color. Staining, discoloration and damage from heat are some other factors that can affect concrete, granite and marblecountertops. Ceramic countertops can very easily chip or crack and replacing the damaged tiles is also not a simple task. But corian countertops offer solutions against all these problems and more.

Because corian countertops are nonporous, they are waterproof and resistant to heat. The appearance is almost perfect, since there are no visible seams on the surface. Unlike other materials, corian is very resistant and extremely durable. It is easy to buff or sand out scratches since the corian countertops do not consist just of one single layer. This also makes them easier to keep clean. There are also resistant to molds and antibacterial which helps to protect your family from germs and illnesses.

You will find the market loaded with a wide range of colors and designs of corian. Choose a sample that merges in effortlessly to complement your kitchen cabinets, wall color and interior design. Compared to other established kitchen countertops materials, countertops in corian are a bit on the higher end of the spectrum. However, you can significantly trim the total cost if you opt for a do-it-yourself kit of corian countertop that you can install all by yourself. These kits are very economic and consist of simple guidelines that will assist you all the way through the installation. Right from prefabricated elements to instructional DVDs, these kits considerably cut down the expenses to half.

Since corian countertops are created using performance oriented resin, they are great for many purposes. Not only are they popular as both a countertop and wall panel application, they are also a great solid acrylic solution and easy to maintain. Lastly, they can be customized at the same time.

by Jason Gluckman

The popularity of granite kitchen countertops has increased dramatically in recent years, with the media focus on kitchen remodeling and personal incomes rising. Originally the choice for granite countertops was limited to wealthy individuals. Today, homeowners of moderate means choose granite countertops for their durability as well as beauty. In addition to their utility and longevity, granite kitchen countertops are one of the few home improvements that maintain their value. Typically, any appliances, flooring or cabinetry decisions will only add about twenty-five percent of their retail value to the appraisal value of a home. In addition to long term value, the beauty and warmth of granite makes it an ideal material for aesthetic appeal among homeowners and interior designers.

The natural beauty of a granite kitchen countertop complements any style of cabinetry, from French country to the sleek lines of cosmopolitan styles. This ancient stone adds warmth and character to any kitchen, whether it’s a new build or a remodel. Granite is found world wide, and is available in hundreds of colors. Brown and beige tones are the most popular, as they work well with a variety of kitchen color schemes and offer a great deal of flexibility. Some granite colors exhibit “movement,” or a noticeable design within the color, while others have very small patterns. The combination of color and movement means that no two countertops look exactly alike.

Opinions regarding the color that is best for a kitchen will vary. Dark cabinets can be warmed up with a light colored stone, while light colored cabinets can be anchored with a dark stone. When choosing the granite that will be added to a kitchen décor, it is best not to make selections from â??chipsâ? that the decorator or major retailer has on hand. There is too much variation in the color and movement in each slab to be captured in a single chip. Rather, it is better to go to the stone supplier and look at each slab. The slab needs to be reserved at the time of decision, or it may not be available at a later time.

Granite countertops are a favorite choice for their beauty and durability, however they are not impervious to damage. Regular care includes proper cleaning and the use of sealers to prevent staining. Granite can also easily be chipped, although a professional can perform â??invisibleâ? repairs.

The installed prices for granite countertops range from $60 to $120 a square foot, installed. The initial cost is much more than other countertop surface treatments. The majority of the cost is not in the stone itself, but in the cutting, transportation and labor of installation. When it comes to granite countertops this is one home project that needs to be left to the professionals. Despite the strength of granite, the oversized sheets are extremely delicate and must be precisely cut. Failure to properly set a granite countertop could cause it to break during regular use.

The durability of granite as a countertop makes it a favorite of home chefs, as it can withstand more abuse than standard laminate countertops. A hurried cook can quickly set down a hot pot without fear of damage to the polished finish. The hardness of this ancient stone serves as an excellent surface for rolling dough and working with confectionery. When it comes to rolling the perfect piecrust, it’s easy to chill a section of the countertop by setting a bowl of ice water over the chosen workspace for 15 to 20 minutes.

Granite kitchen countertops have proven to be a wise investment for homeowners. While the final cost of installing granite countertops will be more than other countertop material choices, granite will outlast other materials. Selecting granite as a counter surface proves to be an investment in the value of the home as well as the enjoyment of use for the family chef.

The beauty, hardness and utility of granite makes it a highly desirable material for countertops in home design. In addition to its natural strength, granite is a beautiful stone that adds color and warmth to a room. Though the cost to add granite countertops to any new kitchen or remodel can be quite high, they remain the premiere choice in many new and remodeled homes.

The price of granite countertops ranges from $60 to $120 a square foot, which may or may not include the cost of installation. Discount granite can be found for as little as $30 per foot, not including installation. The premium cost is not in the stone itself, but rather in the costs related to transportation and installation.

The stone industry remains unregulated, which can make it confusing. Every entity that handles the granite, from the quarry to the supplier and fabricator, can establish their own pricing based on the demand in the local market. Dealers who provide full service, so that a homeowner doesn’t have to do the shopping or planning, will add a markup of up to 50%.

Granite suppliers will typically have three or four groupings (or â??tiersâ?) of granite to choose from. The first tier will consist of the premium products that sell for the highest price. Stones are grouped based on several criteria including the country of origin, color, veins or patterns, thickness of the slab, amount of soft minerals in the stone, and current fashion trends. Some granite colors exhibit “”movement”", or a distinctive pattern within the color. The combination of color and movement also affect the final price of granite countertops.

Granite from lower tiers has the same beauty and utility as the slabs in the upper groupings. Additionally, stones in a lower tier could be harder than stones in a first tier, so it pays to get out and look around. A lower tier could also be referred to as â??commercial grade.â? Typically the commercial grades have a large number of â??pitsâ? that have been filled in. The presence of softer minerals may require additional cabinet supports or penetrating sealant, which adds to the final price of granite countertops.

Cheaper, thinner cut stone may be a little less than two centimeters instead of a recommended three, in which case the installer would laminate it to plywood backing for additional stability. Discount granite suppliers will typically deal with a thinner cut stone; many suppliers now carry stones that are intentionally cut thin and laminated at the quarry. It is now common for stone that originates in Asia or India to be cut thin and fabricated prior to shipping. Pre-fabrication does create a lower cost product with less waste being shipped to the supplier. In addition, the fabrication is done in countries with much lower wages, saving on the labor costs at the final destination.

The price of granite countertops is greatly affected by the number of seams and cuts that will have to be made in the stone slabs. Discuss how the cuts will be made when the installer or fabricator makes their preliminary measurements for the template. Another thing to question are the hidden costs of wasted material. Depending on the length of countertops being installed, there will be at least three square feet of waste by the time the fabricator is finished. The cost of wasted material is paid by the homeowner.

Shopping for granite countertops doesn’t have to be frustrating. Focus on finding a reputable supplier and installer who are willing to answer all your questions. Despite the fact that labor expenses are the largest price of granite countertops, this is one project that needs to be left to the professionals. The oversized sheets are extremely delicate and must be precisely cut. Failure to properly set a granite countertop could create an expensive mistake for a do-it-yourself homeowner.

Kitchen counter tops are one of the most used items in your kitchen. Whether you are preparing the evening meal, storing appliances, or just enjoying that first cup of coffee in the morning, kitchen countertops serve many uses. Aside from multi-uses, kitchen countertops are an important aesthetic element of the kitchen. There are a plethora of styles, types, edges, and materials for countertops. Selecting the one that is right for you can prove to be a challenge. An excellent starting point is to research online as well visit home improvement stores to determine what style, cost, and material fit your budget.

Kitchen counter tops are available in a wide selection of materials and finishes. One of the most popular materials is Formica counter tops. These are easy to clean and maintain, not to mention easy to install and even easier on the wallet. With a wide selection of color, Formica counter tops are available to match nearly all color schemes that a kitchen may have.

Granite counter tops are another popular type of kitchen counter top. Be prepared that granite counter tops cost significantly more than the Formica counter tops. Granite counter tops are more durable and even scratch resistant than Formica. Slabs of granite are used for the counter top. They are polished and generally available in a variety of edges, such as bull nose, blunt cut, or even knife edge. As you can see, granite countertops can offer more variety in the form of looks than compared to a Formica counter top.

A third option for a counter top is the tiled counter top. Similar to tiled floor, it is laid as individual tile and arranged in a number of patterns and color schemes. Installation of this type is more time consuming and difficult than the previously mentioned counter tops. Aside from installation, tiled counter tops can easily show dirt within the grout. It is important to seal the grout and tile after installation to help prevent the visibility of dirt and to allow for easier cleaning.

New kitchen counter tops are a great way to make a statement in your kitchen. With a wide range of pricing, materials, finishes, patterns, and more, rest assured you will be able to find a new counter top that is not only functional, but also practical. Be sure to shop around and compare prices when you are looking to make a purchase for a new kitchen counter top. In the end you will not only save money on your purchase, but you will have a new kitchen counter top to complete your kitchen.

Granite is not only the hardest material available for countertops; it’s also the most expensive, with prices starting at $60 a square foot. Though adding granite countertops to any kitchen can be quite costly, they remain the premiere choice in many new and remodeled homes. The beauty and warmth offer an aesthetic appeal that can’t be found in other countertop materials.

Granite does cost more than other countertop materials, with the majority of the price coming from labor costs. Installing granite countertops is not a project for the do-it-yourself homeowner, seeking to save money on installation costs. Installation must be left to the professionals who have the right training and equipment. However, a homeowner can save money on some of the preliminary preparation and demolition work. Before the process of installing granite countertops can begin, range tops, the sink and the old countertops must be thoroughly removed. The remainder of the installation process must be left to the professionals.

After the granite countertops are ordered, an individual from the installation company will come to precisely measure the cabinetry and create templates for the installation. At the time the templates are created, the professional should be able to tell you where all the seams will be. The fewer seams, the better, as regardless of how well the joint is fitted, straight lines in the natural stone are very noticeable. At this time they will determine if any specialized tools will be required for the sink and range cutouts.

Prior to the installation, metal rods and plywood will be added to the top of the cabinetry to create a strong, level surface with additional support for the sink and range. This is a critical step, as it prevents the granite slab from breaking during regular use. Success of a granite countertop installation includes attention to the varying thickness of a slab.

Although slabs are carefully cut, there may be high and low spots on the bottom; therefore, leveling is an important step of the preparation process to protect the stone.

Installers will later bring granite slabs that measure approximately four-by-eight feet or four-by-twelve feet and are only about three centimeters thick. The slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and must be properly carried to reduce stress on the slab during transport. If the granite is not carefully laid on the cabinetry, it could crack at a later time during regular use.

The slab of granite will be precisely cut with a diamond tip saw to fit the templates. The jointing seams will be sealed and the edge will be treated to create a smooth, attractive perimeter. The installer can add any requested trim inlays, such as metallic materials or separate indications of a solid color. The installer will then apply a penetrating sealer and polish the surface to a smooth reflective finish.

The installers will note the positioning of electrical outlets, the sink, and the faucets, as the thickness of the granite may alter some of the process for re-installation of these items. The installers will also be trained to make adjustments for setting a cook top and re-securing the dishwasher stabilizer brackets without causing harm to the newly laid granite countertop.

The expertise required for installing granite countertops requires that this be one job left to the professionals. When properly installed, granite countertops are a beautiful and valuable addition to any home kitchen.
